In 2011, J.W. Frye rode his bike from Key West, Florida to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska on a solo, self-supported tour to raise money and awareness for hospice care. His incredible journey was inspired by the care his family received from hospice when his parents died.
In six months’ time, J.W. traveled about 8,000 miles. He set out with a general route, a little money, and a few planned stops at hospices along the way. He traveled alone, mostly sleeping in a tent.
This short documentary mixes footage J.W. took on his helmet camera with news and amateur footage from along the way and gives a glimpse into this unbelievable trip. Brad Bryan edited all the footage together and helped J.W. craft a narrative for it. I also created the map animation and graphics that tie everything together.
