Shooting of “The Holding Cell,” by SOURCE Productions, has wrapped. This dramatic short film chronicles one teenage girl’s fall into the harrowing world of prescription drug abuse and addiction.
Brad Bryan served this collaborative production in several capacities, most notably as producer, art director (in charge of props and set dressing) and on-set sound recordist. The film was written and directed by KT Curran, currently spending countless hours in the editing room. Alex Stafford of Alex Stafford Photography was the cinematographer, assisted by Gabriel Hernandez. Alex shot “The Holding Cell” on a Canon 5D Mark III, and the results are visually stunning.
“The Holding Cell” began life as a successful stage play, also written and directed by KT Curran, that was performed many times over several years by The SOURCE Theatre – a collective of young actors performing plays exploring teen issues. It was written in response to the epidemic of prescription drug abuse and related overdoses and deaths plaguing the US in general and Florida and Sarasota County in particular. Brandi’s Wish Foundation was a major financial supporter of the effort to translate this powerful play into a film.
Plans for “The Holding Cell” include film festivals, screenings and schools and in public, and beyond. For more information and behind-the-scenes tidbits, visit www.facebook.com/theholdingcell.
